What to expect from the Workshop?
Your phone rings on a Monday morning: the CFO of an important client would like to discuss the implications for his company of a competitor's initial takeover activities in the market. In particular, he wants to take a closer look at the target company and possibly join the takeover battle.
Accompanyour client on his way to the M&A transaction. Your first task is to determinate the stand-alone value of the target company by applying discounted cash flow methodology. To confirm your evaluation, you will apply further assessment models and sensitivity analysess to the critical parameters. In addition, to determine whether it makes sense for our client to enter the takeover battle in the first place, you must also consider the specific synergy potential and strategic implications for our client. These strategic considerations are of crucial importance in making the right decision.
Finally, you will determine the maximum bidding price for the target and accompany our client into the final phase of the takeover battle. You will be supported in your tasks by experienced BCG consultants and will have access to the entire knowledge network of the BCG practice groups.
At the end of the weekend, you will present your recommendations in a pitch meeting with the board of directors. You will have to demonstrate your ability to convince the critical board of a challenging client of the merits of your solution. All of the participants will come together in a final plenary session to share and discuss their recommendations.

Who we look for?
We are seeking university students who are studying finance, economics, business, or similarly quantitative subjects to attend the workshop. Prior practical experience in corporate finance through internships is welcome but not a prerequisite.
Applicants should have a few other things in common: outstanding academic performance, along with evidence of excellence in non-academic and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, they should have quick powers of comprehension, a sharp analytical mind, curiosity, and inventiveness—and they should be as good with numbers as they are with people.
