Working with large clients and with many different industries means a continuous stream of challenges.

A Personal Story

After having spent a few years in the telecom industry after graduation I joined the BCG’s Stockholm office in 2005 and later transferred to our Moscow office. Plans for going into consulting had always been at the back of my mind and I wanted to broaden my horizons. BCG has certainly let me do so and being an engineer with broad interests this is the perfect place to be.

Since joining BCG I have been given the chance to apply my problem solving skills in a wide range of industries and functional areas. Put simply, what we do is help our clients to make strategic decisions—supporting management teams by structuring the process, involving key stakeholders and experts, and making sure that the decisions are based on rigorous analysis.

Working with large clients from many different industries this means a continuous stream of challenges—quickly getting up to speed on new topics, plowing massive amounts of data, interacting with people at different levels of the client organization, and presenting the results in the form of actionable recommendations.

Looking back at the cases I have done I can really see that we bring valuable results. We are also told so by our clients. Apart from getting positive feedback from clients I find the most rewarding aspect of BCG is the open atmosphere we work in, with highly motivated colleagues in the office and access to great senior expertise from all over the world.

A Personal Story

One of BCG’s key strengths and, perhaps, its most significant differentiator is the way we work collaboratively with clients as we develop and implement innovative strategies. On one recent case, I had the chance to work directly with senior physicians and administrators of a large health care system to develop a long-term growth strategy. It was exciting to be part of a team that was bringing a unique and bold perspective to a tough competitive and regulatory environment. We customized our recommendations by working closely with several client teams, incorporating their extensive clinical and market expertise into the strategic plan we created.

During our final presentation, a board member commented that our work was the most robust strategic plan he had seen in his 25 years in health care. I felt this success was a direct result of our ability to collaborate with management, understand the problems they faced, and then use our expertise to find creative solutions.
