What was your story of finding yourself in BCG CIS?
I initially joined BCG Madrid in 2006. What attracted me to management consulting was the possibility to always work on issues at the top of a CEO agenda. BCG was a natural place for me, due to its intellectual power, superb client base, and great team spirit! After four years in Madrid, I transferred to BCG Moscow, where I found a fast growing office with a great mix of locals and expats and a fantastic working environment.
What is your PA affiliation? Why did you decide to join this particular PA?
I am a core member of the Consumer Goods and Travel and Tourism practice areas. I very much enjoy being able to see how our actions can have an impact on millions of consumers. Also, and especially on the Travel and Tourism side, there are usually some nice perks, like having to take a cruise for one week to check customer service, for example!
What is your brightest project experience?
My biggest project experience has been in assisting on the turnaround of a major transportation company in Europe. The company was in bankruptcy proceedings when we joined, having lost €1B in the previous year, and with a strong history of restructuring failures. In a very limited amount of time, we completely restructured the company: We merged it with its largest competitor to create a national champion and sold a significant stake to an international heavyweight to strongly reinforce their international presence. In the meantime, we greatly simplified the operation, renegotiated all contracts (over 3,000), and significantly restructured the workforce.
What helps you to manage stress?
Fortunately, I don't get easily stressed, especially these days. I think it is natural to feel some stress at the beginning of your BCG career, as you try to accommodate so many new things. But you soon realize that there is such a strong team of people around you who share the "can-do" attitude and are ready to reinforce every aspect of your work (BCG experts, Knowledge Team, Production, Translation) that it makes it much more difficult to feel stressed.
